ABOUT US

Sensei Valman started SKDA back in 2001 after training for many years under the JKA, KUGB and other Karate organisations. SKDA built its reputation teaching in schools, local community centres and working with and alongside charitable organisations in the UK. We have also taught internationally and work, train and exchange ideas with many other local, national and international martial arts organisations.

SKDA have spent many years researching Funakoshi's Karate and its traditional roots from China to the Islands of Okinawa into modern Japan. Shotokan sport karate has become the most popular style of karate since the 60's in the UK and at present many organisations worldwide are trying to find the original roots and separate the Sport from the Traditional. At SKDA we teach a mixture of modern Karate and old-style self-defence Karate, attempting to break down myths, understand Kata and introduce traditional weapons for mature students.

SKDA welcomes all students. We aim to help students achieve their goals. All our instructors hold valid enhanced DBS and first aid qualifications, with experience of teaching at all levels. We want you to enjoy training with us and have peace of mind that we will do our very best to make you feel welcome and secure in all our clubs.
